Book Blurb

Six years ago, Ross Mitchell and Lucy Fleming shared a hot holiday weekend in Manhattan, back when he was just a hard-bodied guy in a tool belt and she was an impulsive photography student.

Fast-forward a few Decembers: Ross and Lucy meet again, by chance, at his office Christmas party. And when they find themselves alone and snowed in after hours, it's not long before they're making their own body heat—again. Only this time, the sex is better than ever!

But is it just another holiday romp between the sheets? Or will Lucy and Ross finally get to keep what they really want this year—each other?

My Thoughts

Ok, I admit, I am a Harlequin Blaze junkie. I need my fix every month—and if the book is by Leslie Kelly, all the better! Not only is this a Christmas tale, but it also has one of my favorite tropes: soulmates separated by circumstances and brought back together by fate.

It can be tricky for a writer to blend the past with the present, but Leslie Kelly nailed it by alternating chapters between the two timelines. This method made the characters feel fully developed and realistic.

I love Leslie Kelly's writing style. Within the first few paragraphs, I was hooked. She has a way of creating an instant connection with the characters. This book is no exception—the first pages had me laughing. Who hasn’t thought about dismembering a body part of the opposite sex? And if you’re looking for the right tool for the job, who better to help you than a gorgeous carpenter?

There is immediate chemistry between Lucy and Ross. It’s Christmas 2005—Lucy has her reasons for avoiding the holiday, and Ross is staking his independence from his family. Fate brings them together for a magical weekend, but an unexpected call tears them apart.

Now, six years later, destiny steps in again. Ross’s feelings haven’t changed, but can he convince Lucy they deserve a second chance? Thanks to Lucy’s forgetfulness and a winter snowstorm, they get snowed in—giving Ross the perfect chance to win her heart back.

As with every Leslie Kelly book, the steam is off the charts—my Kindle was practically on fire! This story made me laugh, tear up, and swoon. It’s a wonderful read for anyone who believes in second chances. And honestly, what better time than Christmas to believe in magic?
