Author Interview

FBL: Do you write detailed character profiles before writing, or do they come to life as you write?
Debbie Mason: Because I write a series, the characters often appear in earlier books, so I already know them well—but they still surprise me.

FBL: Do you prefer starting a book or finishing one?
Debbie Mason: I love brainstorming at the start, but there's nothing quite like writing "the end."

FBL: Is anything in your book based on real experiences?
Debbie Mason: Some small things come from real life, but the major events are fictional.

FBL: What was the hardest thing to cut?
Debbie Mason: I didn’t cut anything major, but I did revise the first four chapters three times.

FBL: What’s the theme song for Primrose Lane?
Debbie Mason: “Stand by You” by Rachel Platten.

My Review

Debbie Mason’s Primrose Lane delivers all the feels—grief, redemption, and second chances—in a way only she can. Olivia is a heroine who has risen from devastating loss and betrayal, only to find herself again in Harmony Harbor. When she's suddenly made guardian of her ex-husband’s child (from his affair), her emotional journey deepens.

Dr. Finn Gallagher is the quietly strong, recovering hero who balances compassion with vulnerability. Their chemistry is magnetic, and the inclusion of an adorable little girl and matchmaking widows adds warmth and humor. Their story is one of trust, identity, and reclaiming love when it's least expected.

Setting & Atmosphere

The cozy charm of Harmony Harbor enhances the emotional stakes. Olivia’s event planning ties her to the town, while Finn’s return adds to the sense of homecoming. Mason’s world-building makes this town feel like a second family.

Character Spotlight

Olivia: A survivor who rebuilt her life, now forced to reconcile her past.
Finn: Wounded but wise, he’s a quietly patient match for Olivia.
Supporting cast: Perfect balance of humor, heart, and hometown flavor.

Series Context

This is book 3 in the Harmony Harbor series but reads well as a standalone. Familiar readers will love the continuation of Colleen and Simon’s supernatural subplot.
