Hope Ramsay: Yes! I’m obsessed with creating deep character profiles so I can build challenges that help them grow.
FBL ♥: What part of the writing process do you enjoy most?
Hope Ramsay: The middle! That’s when my characters’ voices are clear and major events shift the story dramatically.
FBL ♥: Are any parts of your stories drawn from real life?
Hope Ramsay: My settings are inspired by real towns—like Shenandoah Falls based on Berryville, VA—but the stories are fictional.
FBL ♥: What’s hardest to cut from a manuscript?
Hope Ramsay: I’m a tough self-editor and trust my editor’s cuts. If it’s boring or repetitive, it’s gone!
FBL ♥: Dream cast for a movie adaptation?
Hope Ramsay: James Marsden (with brown contacts) as Andrew, Poppy Montgomery as Laurie. Supporting: Zooey Deschanel, Colin Farrell, and even baseball player Ryan Zimmerman (visually).
