I don't own a lot of single-purpose serving pieces, and I've learned I don't need to. A few good pieces that can hold cheese one month and dessert the next go a lot further than a cabinet full of things I only use once a year.
A large wooden board handles cheese, crackers, and fruit just as easily as it handles brownies or a stack of cookies. A few small ceramic bowls work for olives, nuts, or dip, and stack neatly the rest of the month when they're not in use.

I used to think I needed a different glass for every drink. Wine glasses, cocktail glasses, water glasses, the specific glass for one friend's sparkling water habit. It was a lot to store and even more to wash.
Now I keep one good set of all-purpose wine glasses that work for red, white, or a book-club-appropriate mocktail, plus a set of simple tumblers for everything else. That's it. Nobody has ever once noticed, and I have an entire cabinet shelf back.
If your book club leans toward a signature drink or a themed pairing, a small pitcher is worth having too. It turns "help yourself" into something that feels a little more special without any extra effort on your part.
Pantry Staples I Always Have On Hand
The real trick to easy hosting isn't a big grocery run before every meeting. It's keeping a small, boring, reliable list of staples in the pantry so you're never starting from zero.
I always have crackers, a jar of good olives, nuts, and something sweet tucked away—usually a box of good chocolate or a bag of something I can dress up in five minutes. None of it goes bad quickly, and all of it can turn into a spread with almost no notice.
When something runs low, I replace it the next time I'm at the store. It's a small habit, but it's the difference between "I have nothing to serve" and "give me twenty minutes."
A stocked pantry is quieter than a stocked bar cart, but it does just as much work.
