To Seduce a Scoundrel by Darcy Burke- Book Review

To Seduce a Scoundrel by Darcy Burke historical romance book cover

A notorious scoundrel. A proper lady. And a romance that refuses to stay within society’s rules.

I didn’t think this series could get any better—but To Seduce a Scoundrel might just be my favorite. And yes… I may have said that about the first two books, Her Wicked Ways and His Wicked Heart… but this one truly stands out.

Why You’ll Love This Book

  • A redemption arc that actually feels earned
  • A strong heroine who challenges societal expectations
  • Witty banter and undeniable chemistry
  • A brooding, self-destructive hero you can’t help but root for
  • Emotional depth with a satisfying romantic payoff

My Review

Sevrin is one of those heroes who carries the weight of his past in a way that shapes everything he does. His biggest enemy isn’t society—it’s himself. The guilt and self-loathing he carries make him believe he’s unworthy of love, and that internal battle drives so much of the story.

We saw glimpses of him in His Wicked Heart, and I knew there was more beneath the surface. This book delivers on that completely.

Philippa is the perfect match for him. She’s strong, determined, and refuses to simply follow society’s expectations. Her willingness to stand up for herself—and ultimately for Sevrin—makes her incredibly easy to root for.

Their chemistry is undeniable. The tension, the banter, the emotional pull—it all works together to create a romance that feels both fun and deeply emotional.

“You are my life, my love, my reason for breathing… if you don't marry me, I'll simply spend the rest of your life destroying your reputation until you do.”

Sevrin’s transformation throughout the story is one of my favorite parts. It feels believable, moving, and completely satisfying. And the epilogue? Absolutely perfect.

The secondary characters also shine here, adding depth and setting up future stories in a way that makes you want to keep reading.

Final Thoughts

This series just keeps getting better, and To Seduce a Scoundrel is easily a standout. If you love historical romance with strong character development, emotional depth, and a swoon-worthy redemption arc, this one is a must-read.
