My Review
This cozy holiday romance hits all the right notes for a perfect winter evening read. Jenny Collins fascinated me as a character—here's a woman who had the world at her fingertips but realized that success without connection feels hollow. Her return to Chesapeake Shores isn't just about hiding from cameras; she's genuinely searching for the parts of herself she left behind when she chased stardom.
Caleb Green anchored the story beautifully. I appreciated how Woods didn't make him instantly forgiving. His caution around Jenny felt realistic—of course he'd be wary of someone who broke his heart once before. The way their relationship slowly rebuilt kept me turning pages, wondering if they could truly bridge the gap between who they used to be and who they'd become.
The Christmas setting worked perfectly here, not just as pretty background decoration but as a real part of the emotional story. There's something about the holidays that makes people more willing to forgive, to take chances, to believe in second opportunities. Woods used that seasonal magic without making it feel forced or overly sentimental.
What I loved most was how the O'Brien family wrapped around Jenny like a warm blanket. Their acceptance and support created this lovely contrast to the harsh world of celebrity she'd been living in. You could feel her slowly relaxing, remembering what it was like to be valued for who she was rather than what she could produce.
The small-town atmosphere felt genuine throughout. Chesapeake Shores comes across as the kind of place where everyone knows your business but also has your back when things get tough. I found myself wanting to visit this fictional town, especially during their Christmas celebrations.
My only complaint is that everything wrapped up perhaps a little too neatly. Real life is messier than Jenny and Caleb's journey suggests, but honestly, sometimes you want that fairy tale ending, especially during the holidays.
This book reminded me why I keep coming back to the Chesapeake Shores series. Woods has created characters who feel like family and a setting that feels like home. If you're looking for a story that will leave you feeling hopeful about love and the power of community, this one delivers exactly what it promises.
Perfect for: Readers who love second-chance romance, small-town settings, and holiday warmth Pairs well with: Hot chocolate, fuzzy socks, and a crackling fireplace.
