Reporter Angela McCallister needs the scoop of her career in order to save her father from his bad decisions that have depleted their savings. When the chance to spend a week at the Findley Brothers ranch arises, she sees a chance to get a behind-the-scenes scoop on rodeo. That certainly doesn’t include kissing the devastatingly handsome and charming cowboy, Derek Chandler, who insists on calling her angel.
Derek has a rodeo to run and a chip on his shoulder. He has no time for the fiery woman who is clearly hiding something. But for some reason he can’t keep his hands off of her. Their connection is instant and explosive but Angela’s secrets could threaten his family and Derek needs to prove that he’s not the irresponsible kid brother anymore.
When the rodeo dust has settled, will the Cowboy and his Angel allow themselves to give in to the attraction that threatens to consume them both?

Author Interview:
FBL : Do you write detailed character profiles before writing, or do you find the characters come to life as you write?
I try to write character profiles before I start, at least as much as I can. But I know that, just like people in your life, they will change and progress as the writing starts. Characters never fail to surprise me. They seem to have minds of their own and don’t behave the way we want or expect at times. Sort of like wayward teens.
FBL : What do you like better: when you’ve just started writing a book or when you’ve just finished one, and why?
Okay, that’s a near impossible choice. If you’d mentioned the middle as my least favorite time writing…I guess I’d have to say I like the beginning best. It’s always filled with hope and excitement about what’s to come. The ending is always a bittersweet relief, that “ahhhhhh” moment when everything wraps up well, especially when I’ve met another deadline early.
FBL : Is anything in your book based on real life experiences or purely all imagination?You want me to ruin the element of mystery?
Isn’t that sort of like watching the “making of” documentaries where you see how special effects are done? Those always make me feel like some of the magic is gone. Okay, I’ll give (a little). There are some parts, especially when it comes to the horses, riding and rodeo events that are based on real life experiences but most of it is pure imagination.
FBL : What was the hardest thing to cut from your manuscript?
When I write my first draft, it’s fast and furious. It’s a bare-bones skeletal approach so I go back later and add detail and scenes. Because of this, I rarely cut anything from my manuscript and usually need to add more. It’s definitely saved me the heartache of massive rewrites and cutting scenes or characters I love but aren’t working.
FBL : If The Cowboy and the Angel had a theme song, what would it be?
Hard to Love by Lee Brice and it would be for both the hero and the heroine. They are both very complicated characters so writing their story wasn’t always easy. Derek and Angela are definitely not a match made in heaven.
FBL : What books are on your nightstand, waiting to be read?
My routine is to always read before bed but I don’t keep physical books there anymore (keeps hubby awake) so everything is on my tablet. Right now, I’m reading the Sweetest Mistake by Candis Terry but I also have several other books by Codi Gary, Laura Kaye, Jennifer Ryan, AL Parks and Stacy Borel waiting in line to be next. I love reading to I tend to get through them quickly. The only thing that stops me from reading is writing.

raised competing in rodeos and Rodeo Queen competitions since the age of 14 and
has thorough knowledge of the sport as well as the culture involved. She has
written several articles about rodeo for small periodicals, as well as a more
recent how-to article for RevWriter, and has published a nonfiction health book
and two inspirational fiction titles under the name Tina Klinesmith. She is
also an avid reader and book reviewer for both Tyndale and Multnomah. In her
spare time, she can be found laughing hysterically with her husband, children,
and their menagerie of pets in Northern California.
