My Review:

What do you do when the rug is ripped out from under you, not just once—but over and over? For Lanie Jacobs, heartbreak is just the beginning. When she takes a job at a family-run winery in Wildstone, she doesn’t expect to find healing in the form of friendship, laughter, or a sexy single dad with two pint-sized troublemakers in tow. But this is a Jill Shalvis novel, so expect all of that... and more.

There’s something magical about the way Shalvis writes people. They’re messy, funny, loyal, and heartbreakingly human. Lanie’s emotional armor is thick, but Mark—oh Mark—is the patient, grounded force who sees through it all. Their romance is slow-building but deeply satisfying, the kind that simmers long before it sparks.

The Capriotti family, meanwhile, is the chaotic, lovable cast you didn’t know you needed. Shalvis weaves in moments of real grief and resilience with humor so natural it sneaks up and makes you laugh out loud. I especially loved the themes of found family and learning to trust again. It’s not just about romance—it’s about belonging.

My Favorite Quote:

“Sometimes the rain washes away what we thought we wanted… so we can see what we truly need.”
