It’s time for another Book Blogger Hop hosted by Coffee Addicted Writer! Each week, bloggers share their take on a fun, bookish question and hop around to connect with others. Here’s this week’s prompt:
New week, new Book Blogger Hop! Today’s question is about book buzz — the trending, must-read, “everyone’s talking about it” titles that float around Bookstagram and BookTok.
This Week’s Prompt:
Do you keep up with the hype surrounding books?
(submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)
My Answer:
Short answer? I don’t. Not always, anyway. I like to know what’s trending — I’m a blogger, so I see the waves of “you have to read this now” — but I don’t let it run my TBR. My reading is seasonal and mood-based, and I already have authors I follow faithfully.
A lot of hyped books are great, but they don’t always match my genres (hello, cozy romance, women’s fiction, and small-town series!). Sometimes I’ll circle back to a hyped book months later, when people have stopped shouting about it, and read it on my own terms. I enjoy it more that way.
So I watch the hype — but I don’t chase it. My TBR is already bossy enough. 😅

I'm more or less the same. But since I follow different bookish people who enjoy the same books I do, I consider their hype for it "the" hype! Lol. And obviously, I guess what's trending within the stores. Like Fourth Wing is huge! I read the first book just before it started "hyping" and really liked it. Have I read the sequels...not yet, but they are on the TBR pile! I heard enough about their cliffhangers that had me hesitant to pick them up when at the time, the next book hadn't even been announced yet. Which is where we are at now. Lol.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my BBH!
thanks for stopping by, Jessica. Happy Reading!
DeleteIt's funny, but the book I am talking about on my blog today is a book I kept hearing about over and over before finally caving and reading it. It turned out to be a book that was worthy of the hype.
ReplyDeleteI need to get through my own TBR before I start adding to the pile. If it is within the genre I typically read, I will most likely get to it sooner or later. Happy Reading!
DeleteI love to see what people are reading, but if I don't like the sound of it then I won't personally read it.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!

I may research the book in goodreads to see what the "hype" is all about, but like you if it isn't something that grabs my attention I will pass on it. Happy Reading!
ReplyDeleteI sometimes will check out the book and look at the reviews. But other than that I read what I like and don't get caught up in all that. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI will do the same, thanks for stopping by. Happy Reading!
