Romance novels have changed a lot over the years — and honestly, I think that’s a good thing.
It’s time for another Book Blogger Hop hosted by Coffee Addicted Writer! Each week, we all answer the same bookish question and then hop around to see everyone’s responses.
This Week’s Prompt
How do you feel about the current state of romance novels?
(submitted by Billy @ Coffee-Addicted Writer)
My Answer
I feel encouraged by where romance is right now.
There’s more diversity in voices, more subgenres to explore, and more room for stories that reflect different kinds of love and life experiences. Whether it’s small-town contemporary, romantic suspense, historical settings, or fantasy worlds with a strong love story at the center, readers have more choices than ever.
I also appreciate that romance is finally being taken more seriously as a genre. It has always centered emotional growth, character development, and hope — and I think more readers are recognizing the depth behind those elements.
Of course, like any genre, trends come and go. Some resonate with me more than others. But overall, I love that romance continues to evolve while still delivering the one thing readers come for: a satisfying, emotionally earned ending.

If you’re curious why romance continues to matter so deeply to readers, I wrote more about that here: Why Romance Books Still Matters.
How do you feel about romance novels right now? Are you loving the current trends, missing older styles, or somewhere in between?

ReplyDeleteInteresting. I agree that it seems to be taken more seriously and that there are lots of different elements to it. I don't mind it as a genre, but if it gets too spicy I get bored.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
