Falling Into You by Jill Shalvis brings us back to Star Falls for Tucker Colburn's story, and this one delivers exactly what I want from a second-chance romance: history, unresolved feelings, family complications, plenty of chemistry, and two people who have a lot more to work through than simply admitting they're still attracted to each other.
Hazel Pierce doesn't return to Star Falls looking for a fresh start. She's there to help her estranged father, keep her visit temporary, and hopefully avoid Tucker Colburn—the former best friend who knows her far too well.
That last part becomes nearly impossible once Tucker is the one who comes to her rescue. From there, old feelings begin pushing their way back to the surface, along with the history neither of them has ever completely left behind.

Book Summary
Hazel Pierce has every intention of keeping her return to Star Falls temporary. She's back because her father needs her, not because she's suddenly feeling sentimental about the hometown she left behind. Unfortunately, coming home also puts her directly in the path of Tucker Colburn.

Why You'll Love It
A second chance with real history: Tucker and Hazel aren't strangers starting from scratch. Their friendship, heartbreak, and unresolved feelings give their romance much more emotional weight.
A hero who never really stopped caring: Tucker's protective, steady presence was one of my favorite parts of the story, especially as Hazel slowly begins to trust what is still between them.
Small-town charm and family chaos: Star Falls and the Colburn family bring plenty of warmth, humor, and the kind of everybody-knows-everybody involvement that makes a small-town romance fun.
More than just the romance: Family complications, old secrets, and a touch of danger give Tucker and Hazel more to face than simply deciding whether they still love each other.
My Review
I really enjoyed Tucker and Hazel together because their relationship feels like it has weight behind it. This isn't a couple meeting, falling instantly in love, and trying to figure things out from there. They already know each other. They have memories together, regrets together, and years of unfinished emotions sitting between them.
Jill Shalvis does a great job of letting that history unfold while still giving Tucker and Hazel a relationship in the present. I didn't feel like I was simply waiting for them to recreate what they once had. The more important question became whether the people they are now could build something healthier from everything that happened before.
Tucker was probably my favorite part of the story. There is a steadiness beneath his grumpy exterior that comes through in the way he shows up for Hazel. He may not always say exactly the right thing, but there is never much doubt about how deeply he cares. I especially liked watching that certainty gradually chip away at Hazel's instinct to protect herself by leaving before anyone can hurt her.
Hazel has more emotional walls to work through, and I appreciated that those walls weren't magically removed once Tucker reappeared. Coming back to Star Falls also means confronting her complicated relationship with her father and parts of her past that she would rather keep buried. That gave her return home more emotional depth than simply putting her near the man she once loved.
I also loved being back with the Colburn family. The family banter and small-town involvement keep the story from becoming too heavy, while the ongoing relationships between the brothers give the series that connected feeling I enjoy. Star Falls really does feel like a place where everyone knows everyone else's business—even when nobody asked them to.
One small detail I particularly liked was the Legend of Star Falls, with the rare sight of three falling stars supposedly signaling that your soulmate will find you. It could have been nothing more than a cute small-town legend, but Shalvis works it into Tucker and Hazel's story in a way that becomes much more meaningful by the end.
There is also more going on than romance. Family issues, old secrets, and a thread of danger add momentum as the story progresses. At times I thought the number of complications competing for attention made the story feel a little busy, which is the main reason this landed at 4.5 stars rather than a full five for me.
But the emotional payoff worked. What stayed with me wasn't simply whether Tucker and Hazel could get back together. It was the idea that a second chance doesn't erase what happened before. They have to acknowledge the damage, forgive what can be forgiven, and choose what they want to create from here.
If you enjoy romances filled with history, family chaos, a protective hero, small-town charm, and characters who have to work for their happily ever after, Falling Into You is a wonderful conclusion to the Colburn Brothers trilogy.

The Colburn Family
Loving, opinionated, and rarely subtle, the Colburns bring humor and
warmth to the story while reminding Tucker and Hazel that keeping
anything private in Star Falls is almost impossible.
Favorite Moment
One of my favorite pieces of the story was the way the Legend of Star Falls came back around. Early on, Tucker is quick to dismiss the story about three falling stars leading you to your soulmate.
By the time the legend returns later in the book, his answer has completely changed—not because he suddenly believes a few stars control his future, but because he understands exactly who matters to him. It was simple, romantic, and completely Tucker and Hazel.

Falling Into You is the third book in Jill Shalvis's Colburn Brothers trilogy. The books follow the three Colburn brothers and share the Star Falls setting, family relationships, and a light continuing mystery.
Jill Shalvis recommends reading the series in order, and I agree. Each romance stands at the center of its own book, but you'll get much more from the family relationships and continuing story if you've already met the Colburns.
