A busy week, new romance reads, and a few quiet moments with a good book.
I'm linking up with the Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and the Sunday Salon hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.
Some weeks seem to fly by without much happening outside the usual routine, and this was definitely one of them. Work has been busy, my reading has been squeezed into the little spaces between everything else, and somehow another Sunday is already here.
♡ A Little From My Week
Most of my week has been spent getting ready for Monday's Leadership Conference at work. I honestly couldn't tell you how many times I've revised one of my slide decks!
I'm definitely an over-preparer. Just when I think I'm finished, I'll look at everything again, decide one slide could be better, and suddenly I'm making another round of changes. Does anyone else do that, or is it just me?
I really do enjoy putting presentations together, especially when I have an opportunity to share ideas and experiences with others. I just need to remind myself that sometimes good really is good enough!
Other than work, it's been a fairly quiet week at home, which I've actually enjoyed after the past couple of weeks. But just when I thought we might have a peaceful weekend, the tropical weather decided to make an appearance!
It's been rainy and windy here in Myrtle Beach as we keep an eye on the storm. Living along the Carolina coast, you learn to pay attention whenever tropical weather heads our way. Hopefully, the worst of it will stay away from us.
For now, it seems like the perfect weekend to stay home, catch up on some reading, and make something cozy for dinner. A rainy day, a good book, and nowhere I need to be doesn't sound so bad!
📖 New on the Blog
While things were fairly quiet at home, I did manage to get three new posts published this week, including a romance recommendation list I've been wanting to put together.
- Book Blogger Hop: Do You Run More Than One Blog? — This week's Hop takes us behind the scenes of blogging and asks whether one blog is enough or if we enjoy managing more than one.
- The Rainy Day Bookshop by RaeAnne Thayne Review: Family, Secrets & Second Chances — A heartfelt story about family relationships, secrets, forgiveness, and finding your way forward, with a bookshop setting that immediately caught my attention.
- 10 Books Like Icebreaker by Hannah Grace for Romance, Spice & Found Family — If you loved the chemistry, sports romance, and found-family friendships in Icebreaker, I've gathered ten more romances to explore.
✨ This Week's Spotlight
One of my favorite things about blogging is when readers reach out looking for book recommendations. I love helping someone find their next great read, and that's actually what inspired this week's spotlight!
A reader was looking for books similar to Icebreaker by Hannah Grace, so I put together 10 Books Like Icebreaker by Hannah Grace.
One of the things I enjoy most about putting together these reading lists is thinking about what made the original book so appealing. Sometimes it's the romance, sometimes it's the characters, and sometimes it's the friendships and the world surrounding them.
With Icebreaker, there's a little bit of everything—hockey, figure skating, chemistry, banter, and a group of friends readers want to spend more time with.
If you're looking for another romance that captures some of those same feelings, take a look at my ten recommendations. Maybe you'll find your next favorite!
📌 Popular on Pinterest
Two romance reading lists are getting attention on Pinterest lately, and I love seeing readers discover both seasonal recommendations and emotional love stories.
- 12 Fall Romance Books to Read in 2026: Cozy, Spooky & Holiday Reads — It's the perfect time of year for this list, whether you're looking for cozy autumn romance, something a little spooky, or an early holiday read.
- Books Like Carley Fortune: 8 Emotional Romances to Read Next — This one continues to attract readers looking for heartfelt romances, complicated relationships, and love stories that stay with you.
📚 From the Archives
This week I'm bringing back two posts for readers who love talking about books just as much as reading them.
- How to Pick a Book Club Read That Sparks Real Conversation — Choosing a book club selection isn't always easy. This post shares ideas for finding stories that give everyone something to talk about.
- Romance Books That Truly Felt Like a Happily Ever After — Some romance endings stay with us long after we close the book. These are the love stories where the happily ever after really feels earned.
📚 What I'm Reading
I'm still reading Whisper of Secrecy by Darcy Burke, the fifth book in her Raven & Wren series. The mystery is finally starting to unravel, and I'm hoping to have it finished by next week.
I've also been experimenting with something new! Instead of buying audiobooks or signing up for another subscription, I've been using the read-aloud feature on my iPad to have my Kindle books read to me. I've been listening while driving or preparing dinner, and I'm actually enjoying it!
It's not quite the same as a professionally narrated audiobook, but it's a great way to see whether I enjoy listening to books before spending money on an audiobook app. Plus, I'm finding a few extra moments to enjoy my stories during a busy week.
🍽️ This Week's Pairing
For this week's pairing, I'm bringing together Maybe One Day by Catherine Bybee and my Easy Baked Turkey Piccata with Lemon Caper Sauce.
I like this pairing for one of those evenings when I want a satisfying homemade dinner without spending the entire night in the kitchen. A Catherine Bybee romance, a flavorful lemon-caper sauce, and a little reading time afterward sound like a lovely way to end a busy day.
And since I've been listening to my books while cooking lately, I might even get a chapter or two in before dinner makes it to the table!
🔖 Coming Up Next
Once Monday's Leadership Conference is behind me, I'm hoping to get a little more breathing room to work on the blog. I have more romance recommendations and cozy recipes on my idea list, and I'm looking forward to spending some time with those projects again.
I'm also hoping to finish my current book and decide what's next on my reading list. Of course, that may be the hardest decision of all!
Let's Chat
Are you an audiobook listener, or do you prefer reading? And have you ever tried using the read-aloud feature on your phone or tablet instead of buying an audiobook? I'd love to hear what works for you!
Thanks for spending part of your Sunday with me. Here's to finding a few quiet moments, enjoying a good story, and remembering that not every week needs to be filled with excitement. ♡
