Book Blurb
With college graduation looming, three childhood friends vow to make spring break their last blast of pure fun. But at least one of them didn’t count on such incredible heat…
Layla Sharpe is definitely more math ninja than bikini babe, and her future has been calculated with razor precision. Convinced to let loose over spring break, Layla is finally ready to party—until her car breaks down halfway to her destination, leaving her stranded in Georgia with a mouthwateringly hot pool shark. She knows more than enough about angles to learn the game, but this week she wants him to appreciate her curves…
Phin Marks has never met a girl like Layla. She’s more Star Wars geek than seductress, and when he offers her a place to stay while her car is in the shop, he’s counting on the attraction between them to set the nights ablaze, no strings attached. But every moment he spends with Layla makes it harder to let her go. Can he persuade her to gamble in the most dangerous way possible…on forever?

Spring Break Fun
When I decided to write a trilogy of novellas centered around the idea of three friends taking a fun spring break, I needed to do some research. You see, I’m a homebody. Even when I was young and in college, I was always busy working. I never did anything fun for spring break or any other break for that matter. My heroines are like me in that respect. They have never done the spring break thing, but since this will be their last, they’re determined to have fun and do something different.
Layla’s plans for spring break are simple:
1. Be spontaneous
2. Have fun on the beach
3. Get drunk
4. Meet men
5. Forget about the real world
Layla follows through on the spontaneous part by choosing to drive cross-country to get to Texas. She keeps her spontaneity going by hanging out with Phin when her car breaks down.
Unfortunately, she never makes it to the beach. She ends up spending most of her days playing pool.
And although she drinks quite a few beers (what else does one do in bars and pool halls?), she doesn’t get drunk.
She only meets one man, Phin, but he’s more than enough to keep her spring break busy and fun. He’s by far the best distraction she’s ever come across.
Finally, Layla does almost too good of a job forgetting the real world. Being an adult and having a real job freaks her out enough that she considers walking away from all of it.
As a writer, part of my fun is ruining the plans my characters make. Throwing the unexpected at my heroines is what makes for good stories.
Have you ever had an awesome spring break? What made it great? Or what about a time when the unexpected turned out to be a good thing?
