A book-themed board game set inside a library? I would absolutely play that.
It’s time for another Book Blogger Hop hosted by Coffee Addicted Writer! Each week, we all answer the same bookish question and then hop around to see everyone’s responses.
This Week’s Prompt
Imagine creating a book-themed board game—what kind of gameplay would it have?

My Answer
If I were creating a book-themed board game, I think the board itself would look like the inside of a library, with different genres acting as your stops along the way. Instead of a plain path, you would move from section to section like you were exploring shelves filled with possibilities.
Each player could have a small game piece that reflects their reading style—like a stack of books, a teacup, a bookmark, or even a little open novel.
Players would move through the library by rolling dice or drawing cards, landing in different genre areas where something happens each turn. The goal would not be to rush to the end, but to build the best reading experience along the way.
Each genre would have its own twist. In Romance, you might draw a trope card like second chance or slow burn. Mystery could give you a clue that helps you move ahead, while Fantasy might offer a shortcut across the board. Historical Fiction or Historical Romance could reward you with a bonus for discovering a timeless favorite.
I would also include the kinds of moments readers know well. You could land on a “perfect reading day” and move ahead, hit a “book hangover” and lose a turn, or draw a “just one more chapter” card that gives you an extra move. Maybe even a reading slump that slows you down until you find a new recommendation.
And somewhere on the board, there would be a hidden shortcut—a secret passage you only discover if you land on just the right space.
