Do you read one book at a time, or juggle a few at once?

My Answer
I usually like to read one book at a time, especially if it is a story I am really pulled into. I enjoy giving one book my full attention and getting completely wrapped up in the characters, the setting, and the mood of the story.
That said, I do sometimes juggle a few books at once, but they usually have to be very different from each other. For example, I might have one cozy mystery going, one romance on my Kindle, and maybe a cookbook or nonfiction book that I pick up here and there.
I don’t do well when the books are too similar. If I’m reading two romances with similar small-town settings or two mysteries with the same kind of setup, I start mixing up characters and details. That takes the fun out of it for me.

I used to be able to read 3 at a time. I once had two Thrillers set on a beach which got a bit confusing. Now I can only manage 1 at a time!

I don’t do well juggling multiple books. The only time I really do it is when I have a review deadline to meet. Otherwise, I worry I won’t give each book the attention it deserves, especially if I start mixing up characters and plots. Happy Reading!
DeleteBooks being too similar is definitely tricky! It's not so much that I mix up details for me, it just weirdly feels more whiplashy going from book to book because of the similarities, I think? If that makes sense?

I can definitely see how jumping between similar books could feel a bit like whiplash. That's another reason I usually stick to one book at a time—it helps me stay immersed in the story. Thanks for sharing! Happy Reading!
