Second chances, summer reading, and homemade comfort are on the menu in this week’s Sunday Recap.

This week brought a little bit of everything: a finished book, several tempting choices for what to read next, thoughts about second-chance romance, and a homemade pizza that was every bit as comforting as it sounds.
I also launched a new feature this week called Reader Reflections, where I’ll share more personal thoughts about reading, books, and the little rituals that make the reading life so meaningful. The first reflection, The Comfort of Knowing There’s Always Another Book Waiting, felt especially fitting as I looked over my reading list and tried to decide which story to begin next.
♡ A Little From My Week
One thing that's become a familiar part of our summer is the afternoon thunderstorms. If you're new here, let me introduce you to Lucy, my sweet dog and faithful reading companion. She isn't a fan of thunder and has decided that my closet is the safest place in the house whenever the storms roll in. As soon as she hears the first rumble, she heads straight there—and before long, I'm usually sitting beside her until the weather passes.

Thankfully, this week's storms weren't nearly as dramatic as the tornado warning I shared in a recent Book Blogger Hop, but Lucy still follows the same routine every time. Once the skies clear, she's back to her happy self, and I'm back to deciding which book to pick up next. Those quiet moments remind me that sometimes the simplest routines—a good book, a loyal companion, and the quiet after the storm—are the ones we treasure most.

I finished A Whisper in the Shadows by Darcy Burke this week. I’m gathering my thoughts and working on my review, which I hope to have ready to share next Thursday.
Next, I’m deciding between Falling Into You by Jill Shalvis and Summer with My Cowboy by Linda Lael Miller and Maisey Yates.
One offers a heartwarming contemporary romance, while the other promises a summery escape with plenty of cowboy charm. Either way, I’m looking forward to settling into another good story.

This week's pairing combines My Fair Katie by Shana Galen with the Rosemary Chicken & Roasted Potato Pizza — a disgraced duke rebuilding a simple life in the countryside pairs beautifully with a hearty, rustic pizza built on roasted potatoes, rosemary, and comfort.

There is a library here that does that with donated books - wrap them in paper with just a hint of the type of genre. People seem to grab these up!

DeleteWhat a great week you have had there. Homemade pizza is truly the best thing to have. I have read some of Darcy Burke but its been a long time. Love the covers for Whisper in Shadows though, has a gothic look to it. Looking forward to your thoughts on that.
