Sunday Recap #6: Beach Days, Books & a Little Kitchen Time

Sunday Recap – Books, Bites and Cozy Nights

Beach days, bookish celebrations, cozy recipes, and a week that flew by.

Welcome to my end-of-week wrap-up! I'm linking up with the Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and the Sunday Salon hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

Hi friends,

This week seemed to fly by. The weather couldn't quite decide what it wanted to do—some days were rainy and stormy, while others brought beautiful afternoon sunshine. Between mall walks, beach time, physical therapy, and trying a few new recipes in the kitchen, the days filled up quickly.

♡ A Little From My Week

On the rainy days, my husband and I kept our walking challenge going by heading to the mall to get our daily steps in. Having a little friendly competition has helped keep us motivated, and walking inside where it's cool has been a welcome alternative to the South Carolina heat and humidity.

When the sunshine returned, we headed to the beach. Standing near the water has always been one of my favorite ways to reset. It's my happy place—the steady rhythm of the waves quiets my mind, and as the water rolls back out to sea, it feels as though it carries a few of my worries with it. I always leave feeling lighter than when I arrived.

The beach will always be one of my favorite places to slow down and reset.

A Little Progress

Another bright spot this week was physical therapy. I had two sessions and am finally beginning to see more progress with my frozen shoulder. Being able to reach a little farther may not sound very exciting, but after dealing with limited movement, every small improvement feels like a victory.

Something New From the Kitchen

I also spent time making a few new recipes this week, and I can't wait to share them with you. Your responses to the recipes and food content on Forever Book Lover have been incredibly encouraging.

I've especially loved hearing that some of you have taken time to explore the site and discover older recipes, book lists, and reading features you may not have seen before. Thank you for looking around and spending time here—it truly means a lot.

📚 Celebrating National Book Lovers Day

Today is National Book Lovers Day, which feels especially fitting for a Sunday spent talking about books. Reading has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, and I love that this little corner of the internet gives me a place to share that love with other readers.

Happy National Book Lovers Day from Forever Book Lover

A day made for those of us who can never have too many books waiting to be read.

However you spend the day, I hope there's a little reading time tucked into it somewhere—whether that's a trip to the bookstore, an afternoon with your current read, or a few quiet chapters before bed.

📚 What I'm Reading

I just started Felicity's Eloquent Earl by Maeve Greyson a few days ago, so I'm still settling into the story. After a busy week, I've been fitting in reading wherever I can, and I'm looking forward to spending a little more time with it this weekend.

🍽️ This Week's Pairing

This week's pairing brings together Free Falling by Jill Shalvis with Warm Salmon Salad with Poached Egg & Lemon Vinaigrette. The fresh, lighter dinner feels just right for a warm August evening, while Jill Shalvis brings the kind of romance that's easy to settle into when you're ready to slow down and enjoy a few more chapters.

🔖 Coming Up Next Week

Next week, I’ll be sharing my review of Love Wells Kept, the final book in Bailey Hannah’s Wells Ranch series. I also have a crispy potato side coming from the kitchen that’s easy enough for a weeknight but just as good for sharing, plus another Book Blogger Hop to wrap up the week.

Where is the place that helps you feel grounded and lets your worries fade away?

Thank you for spending part of your Sunday with me. I hope National Book Lovers Day brings you a quiet moment, a favorite reading spot, and a story that helps the rest of the world fade away for a little while.

Happy Reading!

  2. I was diagnosed with frozen shoulder too. I went to PT for a few months for my left shoulder and it was a huge success. Unfortunately, once the left was "cured", the right arm had frozen shoulder. Instead of sending me back to PT, they have me doing exercises at home. It helps right after I do the exercises, but then it comes back. Good luck with your PT. It really does help. Have a great week!

    1. That is encouraging to hear that PT worked so well for your left shoulder, but how frustrating to have it happen in the right one afterward! I’m trying to be patient and celebrate every little bit of progress. I hope your home exercises continue to help. Happy Reading!

    1. I completely agree! The beach is one of those places where I can just relax and reset. I’m only about five minutes away by golf cart, so I really have no excuse not to get there more often either! Happy Reading!

  4. I had frozen shoulder last year and it was horrible!!! In the beginning, even swinging my arms while walking was too painful. PT helped!

  7. Especially love what you said about the beach and the sound of the waves taking your worries away. I went through a period when I would drive to the beach and just sit there (others were worried but it actually helped calm me).

    1. There really is something about the sound of the waves that can quiet everything else for a while. I completely understand why sitting by the beach helped you find that sense of calm. I go as often as I can for that reason. Happy Reading!
