Sunday Recap #11: Birthday Celebrations, Mountain Bound & A New Cowboy Read

Sunday Recap – Books, Bites & Cozy Nights

Birthday celebrations, a restaurant dinner that felt like a win, two much happier daycare days for Lucy, and now we're mountain bound.

Welcome to my end-of-week wrap-up! I'm linking up with the Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and the Sunday Salon hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

Hi friends,

This week felt like a little bit of everything—work, birthday celebrations, getting Lucy ready for our trip, and finally packing our own bags for the North Carolina mountains.

After all the anticipation, vacation is officially here. We leave today, and I am more than ready for a few days away.

♡ A Little From My Week

Thursday was my birthday, and we celebrated with dinner at Ruth's Chris. Eating out has become a little more complicated for me lately, so I really appreciated how helpful they were about working with my eating restrictions. They offered suggestions and made adjustments so I could relax and actually enjoy dinner out again.

And after last week's rocky introduction to doggy daycare, Lucy had a much better week. She had two successful daycare days, which made us feel a lot better about leaving her while we're away. Apparently she just needed a little time to figure the place out—and to decide that maybe it wasn't quite so bad after all.

Now the bags are packed, Lucy has had her practice runs, and we're heading to the North Carolina mountains. After such a busy stretch, I'm looking forward to cooler air, good meals, long walks, and a little time to simply enjoy being away.

📖 New on the Blog This Week

Here's what was new on Forever Book Lover this week:

This Week's Spotlight

Caramel Apple Cheesecake Dip

This week's spotlight goes to my Caramel Apple Cheesecake Dip. It feels like the perfect recipe for this time of year—easy enough for a cozy night at home but pretty enough to put out for a fall gathering or book club.

📚 What I'm Reading

I finished Midnight by Sharon Sala this week. The beginning had thrown me a little because I initially felt as though I'd been dropped into something already in motion, but once I realized it was really a descriptive lead-in setting up the story, everything fell into place.

Now I've started Summer with My Cowboy by Linda Lael Miller and Maisey Yates. I'm just getting into this one, so I'll have more to say once I've spent a little more time with it.

🍽️ This Week's Pairing

For this week's pairing, I'm reaching back into the archives for The Lake House by Lori Foster and pairing it with my Garlic-Herb Roasted Chicken Thighs. There's something about a Lori Foster romance and a simple, comforting dinner that feels made for a relaxed night at home with a good book.

🔖 Coming Up Next Week

Next week will look a little different because we'll be spending much of it in the North Carolina mountains. I'm looking forward to slowing the pace down, exploring a little, enjoying a few dinners out, and hopefully finding some quiet reading time along the way.

I'm hoping to have a new book review and this week's Book Blogger Hop ready to go, and perhaps another meal prep post in my Cook Once, Read More series if I can get everything finished before we leave. I'm keeping the schedule a little flexible, though—vacation is supposed to include some time away from my laptop too!
